About

My name is Lauren Miller (they/them).

I approach our work together with humility, integrity and curiosity. I am often genuine, expressive, and thoughtful in sessions. For more information on how I have been trained and approach our work together see here.

I have been working in the field of trauma informed mental health care for over a decade and have been facilitating somatic focused sessions in a private practice setting for seven years. Previously, I have been a community organizer, residential crisis manager, client advocate, Harm Reduction outreach volunteer, professional and community herbalist, and antiquarian bookseller.

I am a white, elder millenial originally from the Rust Belt and, after living in New York City, consider Southern Appalachia my home. I am deeply changed by the rich biodiversity of this region and my ongoing relationship with this ecosystem is one of the most healing relationships of my life.

I am a queer, gender-moody demi-dyke. I am chronically earnest, chronically ill, able bodied, and neurodivergent. I live with complex trauma. I am anti-authoritarian and committed to radicalized ways of living out social justice. I am skeptical of systems of power, but not of people. I like intense conversations, emotional honesty, occasional frivolity, and time spent alone or with my partner and solid friends. I love medicinal plants and I love a research project. I am not on social media and consider it be an important part of how I stay present and how I stay soft.
